Experiences of the ICF project hatchery: football!
ICF and the We Are! project are proud to have organized a friendly football match on 21st of April in Samppalinnanvuori football field. It was exciting to have wonderful participants full of energy and passion for the game and we are really thankful to two of the lady players for proving it is not only boy’s game. We had altogether 22 players and they were divided in group of four teams.
Our main idea to have this event was to promote the internationalization concept by bringing students from all the study programmes (Finnish, exchange and degree students) together so they can meet, share and gain knowledge and experiences. Also making them aware about the global issues and encouraging them to act responsibly to deal with it. The football game was a brilliant idea to bring them together, have fun and at the same time make them realize the responsible globalization concept.
Every second in the Amazon rainforest the trees are cut down equal to the size of football field. It is really a global issue we have to think about. We also named our teams after the endangered species like Mountain Gorillas, Sumatran Tigers, Snow Leopards and Giant Pandas which are in real need of serious attention.
Each team played against each other and Mountain Gorillas was the Winner of the match. We also had a unique prize for the winners. We had 150 euros to spent on the prize but the winners could choose any aid options like cattle or plants equivalent to 15-20 euros which would go as the donation to the developing countries on his/her name. We were happy to have positive response from our participants regarding the prize.
Responsible globalization along with internationalization has been our core concept. We would organize similar events in future and we really appreciate your participation in every form. We Are and We Can and We Will! Thank you all!
Get Global – Be Responsible!
